Values and Norms are both used in our everyday lives usually when we interact with others. Values are standards which decide what is good or bad. As we get older, not only our appearance changes but so do our values and perception. People have a sense of values and personal preferences; yet, it tends to get buried under layers of social expectations. Values only become important to us when our basic needs are already met. Norms identify how people should and should not behave in various solutions with rules and expectations. Some people are learned, but most people pick it up. Norms and Values of a society may have conflicts. Our human behavior is not determined by genes. Genes are changed by social expectations. I believe that humans are not prisoners of our genes because we develop different values and expectations of living. ???????????????
