Neil Armstrong was a very famous person in the air space field. He was born on August 5, 1930 and died on August 25, 2012. Armstrong lived to be 82 years of age. His height is 1.8 meters. He is most famous for being the first person to walk on the surface of the moon. He claimed and broke history for America in the great space race were Russia and The United States of America raced to get there men to the moon first. Well they won that race on July 20, 1969 when they landed on the moon and mad history
Neil Armstrong was born near Wapakoneta, Ohio. He was the oldest child of three. Since he had such a fondness to airplanes he began to take flying lessons. He started his flying lessons at the age of 14. Finally by the age of sixteen on his birthday he got his flying license. Even when he was super young he was incredibly smart. He made a miniature wind tunnel in his basement. A wind tunnel is where scientist test the air flow of aircraft and spaceships using models. If the wind tunnel is big enough they use the real thing (does not apply to airplanes.)
Neil Armstrong was a very well educated man as he was really smart in a lot of different fields. Some of them are aeronautical engineer to a naval aviator. He also worked as a test pilot and at NASA. The mission to where he was sent to space was called the Apollo 11. The shuttle that he used was the Gemini 8.
Armstrong used his licking to planes and got a U.S Navy scholarship a he attended a college in India. After around two years of studying the U.S called him into action. He got his silver wings at the age of 20 so he was the youngest person in his squad to get them. He was in a lot of combat missions in the Navy as he also fought in the Korean war. All this experience got him a job at Nasa as they recognized how smart and skillful he was. Because Armstrong went into the astronaut training he worked his was up and found himself the commander of Apollo 11 for the first mission to go into space and land on the moon in 1969.
In conclusion, Neil Armstrong got a lot of achievements in his life. He was in the Navy fought in the Korean war to be the youngest person in their squad to get there silver wings. Even from a young age he was building a wind tunnel. Even though everyone knows him as the first person to walk on the moon.
