A stady on the NBOD reduction in wastewater treatment plant using sludge reaeration

Abstract
An advanced wastewater treatment has been designed to reduce the concentration of NBOD which causes eutrophication. When ammonia nitrogen exists in wastewater, N-BOD will occur during the process of nitrification which converts NH4-N into NO2-N and NO3-N. Using the sludge reaeration, it is possible to remove nitrogen biologically. In this research, an advanced full-scale wastewater plant was proposed to effectively and economically reduce the concentration of NBOD under low water temperature. Ammonia concentration in the treated water was less than 2mg/L and nitrification rate was 80% under low water temperature. As a result, it was concluded stable nitrification is essential even under the low water temperature.
